Beetlejuice welcomes everyone to the 6th annual IUB Birthday Bash. The first Award goes to Axel who is awarded the fastest bike / fastest rider combination.

The job of Master of Ceremonies is handed over to Axel

Various nominations were received for “King of the road” but this year’s award goes to Pierre. Pierre also gets the best trip report award for consistently making us jealous and looking for jobs where we can work shifts

Almost everyone was nominated by their wives/partners for the “Biggest Boozer” award. But this year the award goes to George for regularly ordering beer when we all would rather have coffee. The committee decided to give the award because of his consistency although certain other nominees had promising attempts, they were too few and far between, Must try harder guys. Oops look like the word award was written twice but at this time of the evening and for the Biggest Boozer…..

In the category “Best Looking Bike” we had 64 nominations. These can be separated into two categories, Axel and Beetlejuice. The votes were tallied twice and it was a tie. They will split the award, 6 months in Noordhoek and 6 months in Strand.

We decided to combine the “Most Hospital Time” and the “Funniest Incident” to save on printing costs. This award would have been sponsored by Medi-Clinic Milnerton who withdrew at the last minute mumbling things like “can’t encourage him” and “never want to see that hairy arse again” I think Bobby ruined it when he walked down the passage (during visiting hours!) with his arse hanging out of the hospital garment to “go and have a smoke”!!! On Crutches!!! With Beetlejuice carrying his drip!!!

No contest in the following category. “Mr & Mrs IUB” Again lots of nominations but one couple stand out. Thanks Toni and Neil for marrying each other and saving two other people a lot of unhappiness.

Neil also gets the “Oldest Bike / Oldest Rider” award. Both him and his steed are of unknown vintage but still going strong

Although there wasn’t an award for this the committee has decided from a graphical and detailed description that the award for the “Wettest G String” should go to Amanda “G”

“Toughest Rookie Bastard of the Year”. We had quite a couple of new members this year but Werner would have walked off with it for the 3 seconds it took him to get signed up after some effective hinting, but after this wet ride up it was changed from “Rookie of the Year” and awarded to Werner, Amanda “G” and Hugo.

“Most Bikes Owned over the shortest time”. Bobby. He keeps crashing them. Bikes all over the country cower in the corners of their shops when the grim reaper walks in. When he asked whether he should keep the ZX9 it was summed up nicely when the group told him to keep it cause it crashes well.

This is the first time a member has fallen off his bike to avoid an official function so we have to humiliate him with the award for “the most timely crash” Leon.

“wheelie king” After having been beaten in longest wheelie followed by a most awesome tank slapper I had to concede this competition to Beetlejuice
