UB 2005 Birthday Bash at Hangklip Hotel
An introduction and welcome
Axel was nominated MC once again and everyone was welcomed to the 7th Annual IUB birthday bash.
A brief summary of things that happened in the past year.
Last year Ladyhawk couldn’t eat as she was suffering from a little morning sickness and she was not feeling too well this year either. (Another little Foley on the way - who knows). Matthew Foley born mid January this year and is now the youngest IUB member.
Bobby and Rina have moved house but fortunately it was to the same house. We haven’t been invited yet for some reason.
Gavin finally got away for a weekend alone to Sutherland to view heavenly bodies although Sandra and the other ladies are apparently keeping score of the rallies, track days etc. The men are going to have to look after the babies while the ladies take a weekend off and those without babies (Neil) will be supplied as Beetlejuice has surplus.
George, the member formerly known as Indi will henceforth be known as Koi-san because he chose to attend a Koi convention instead of the IUB function. Must have been a gun to his head.
Tick Tock spend some time in hospital recovering from one of his many accidents when Beetlejuice and Axel went to visit. Axel was taken out by a car on the way there and the B’stard FZR from Hell now has a new look.
Beetlejuice had a spill on the Swartberg pass, bending his belovered R1 in the process, I’m sure it must be the first sport bike to be taken over that pass. And the last. He later said if they had enough petrol he would have gone down into Gamkaskloof (Die Hel).
Werner had a small incident where he forgot to take a disc lock off tsk tsk. He was taken out again this weekend and thats why he is a bit late as he is coming up by car.
Neil broke down outside Matjiesfontein, and Touwsrivier and Laingsburg and and … where we found Toni’s dishrag in his air box. He just can’t seem to get away from washing dishes.
Awards#1 Award for the best collection of bikes go to Thomas. With so many bikes you need a big chamois and we’re so glad to see he’s brought his along. Check out the photo.
#2 Neil for the longest distance on the smallest bike. Thanks for restricting it with Toni’s dishcloth in the air-box so that we could all keep up.
#3 Amanda for the most breakdowns. What that Suzuki needs is another Suzuki.
#4 Werner has been promoted to “corporal crash” Tick Tock has promised to take you under his wing. Werner shows plenty of promise and Tick Tock is an excellent mentor.
#5 Wayne for the newest member. We have now made him an official member because we can no longer stand the suspense as to when he will sign up.
#6 Gavin and Sandra, still rookies because they only started posting recently and for the most rallies attended
#7 Beetlejuice for the funniest bike incident. Tick Tock described Beetlejuice’s attempt at a puddle crossing on the infamous Swartberg pass when almost his entire bike disappeared under the water with just exhausts, elbows and handlebars sticking out. Apparently Beetlejuice was attempting to cover his bike with mud as proof that he had taken a sportbike over the Swartberg pass.
#8 Axel (thats me) for the best trip organised. The Sutherland trip where I invited the guys along to look at heavenly bodies and as Tick Tock later commented “the only thing I saw was Uranus on the mountain passes”. I was talking about the stars and planets through South Africa’s largest telescope guys.
# 9 Tick Tock for being the most dedicated IUB member, sort of like a corner, always around where you don’t need him. Often in corners, too…
